New Goat Ensemble
New Goat Ensemble is a Jacksonville, Illinois based band playing original music heavily influenced by bands such as NRBQ, Grateful Dead, Bob Dylan. Labeled as a roots rock band, the Goats hint at blues, jazz, as well as folk/country music. The four piece band consists of guitars, piano, bass and drums.
New Goat Ensemble began in April of 1990 for an Earth Day Celebration at Jacksonville's Nichols Park. Since that day, the Goats have played area clubs as well as private affairs such as weddings, Art lawn parties, pool parties and 4th of July celebrations. For many years, New Goat Ensemble participated in Springfield's First Night event.
In 1996, the band released a CD Campylobacter, consisting of material from live shows.
